Family Programming Package

All of the SIRIUS Consumer plans can be had with a Family option, which prohibits the radio receiver from accessing mature content. This content will be blocked on your radio should you choose this option.

This package is available by calling 1-888-539-7474 and requesting the Family package. Alternatively you can learn how to lock, password-protect and hide channels with adult content on your radio receiver, by the following directions below.

Learn how to lock, password-protect and hide channels with adult content on your radio receiver.

  • Starmate replay

    The Receiver has the ability to lock out with password protection any channels you do not want others to access without your permission. A locked channel will not appear in the channel list.

    When access to a locked channel is attempted using the direct channel entry method, the “Enter Code” screen is displayed and the channel cannot be accessed until the correct code is entered.

    If the wrong code is entered, a message will be displayed indicating that the wrong code has been entered.Hop Nation). To lock or unlock a channel, do the following:

    1. Use the channel up and down buttons to highlight “Lock/Unlock, and press the select button.
    2. If this is the first time that Parental Control is being used, you will be prompted to create and enter a four digit numerical code. This code can be any four digit number from 0000 to 9999. If you should exit this prompt without entering a code, you will be prompted to set a code next time you enter the Lock/Unlock option.
    3. If a code has been previously set, a “Enter Code” prompt will be displayed. Enter your four digit code and press the select button to continue.
    4. When the correct code has been entered, a listing of channels will be displayed. Use the channel up and down buttons to navigate to the channel you wish to lock or unlock, and press the select button. A previously locked channel will have the word “Lock” displayed to the right of the channel name.
    5. To lock or unlock a channel, use the channel up and down buttons to highlight a channel, and press the select button. If you are locking a channel, the word “Lock” will be displayed to the right of the channel name. If you are unlocking a channel, the word “Lock” will be removed from the right of the channel name. To exit the Parental Control menu, press the MENU button.

    Edit Code

    This setting allows you to change a previously selected Parental Control code. The first time the Edit Code setting is accessed you will be prompted to enter a four digit code. This code can be any four digit number from 0000 to 9999. If you should exit this prompt without entering a code, you will be prompted to set a code the next time you enter the Edit Code option. To change the Parental Control code, do the following:

    1. Use the channel up and down buttons to highlight “Edit Code”, and press the select button.
    2. At the prompt, enter the four digit Parental Control code.
    3. If you did not enter the correct code, a message will be displayed alerting you that the wrong code was entered, and you will be prompted again to enter the code.
    4. If the correct code was entered, the “New Code” prompt will appear. Enter the new Parental Control code.
    5. You will then be prompted to confirm the new code by entering it again.
    6. If you confirmed the correct code, the lock code is now changed and a confirmation screen is displayed. If you entered the wrong code at the confirmation prompt, a screen will be displayed to alert you that you have entered the wrong code, and you will have to repeat the process again.

    To exit the Parental Control menu, press the MENU button.

  • SIRIUS S 50

    The parental controls feature sets a password for access to specific channels or playlists. Locked channels and playlists are visible when browsing lists, and display a lock icon next to the name. When you attempt to access a locked channel or playlist, you will be prompted to enter your password before you can proceed.

    Enabling or Disabling Locks

    1. Press the Setup button.
    2. Select Parental Controls Locks Enabled or Locks Disabled/Enabled.
      1. If the locks are enabled, you will be prompted to enter your password. Use Fast-Forward and Rewind to enter each digit of the password and press the Select button.
      2. When you are enabling locks, you will be prompted to create a password. Use Fast-Forward and Rewind to enter each digit (0—9) of the password and press the Select button. You will be then be prompted to confirm the password you just entered.
    3. When you have entered the password, the locks will be enabled or disabled according to your choice.

    Note:

    The lock feature requires you to set a password. Once a password has been set, it is important to remember your password as it cannot be reset or erased by using the Reset Defaults feature of the SIRIUS S50 except by entering the password. This prevents circumvention of the lock. If you have forgotten your password, call SIRIUS Customer Service for assistance.

    Locking and Unlocking Channels and Playlists

    In order for the lock settings to be enforced, you must have set the locks to be enabled (previous section).

    1. Press the Setup button.
    2. Select Parental Controls Define Locks.
    3. You will be prompted to enter your password. Use Fast-Forward and Rewind to enter each digit of the password and press the Select button.
    4. Select either Lock Channels or Lock Playlists.
    5. Select a channel or playlist to lock/unlock. If you are locking a channel or playlist, a lock icon will be displayed beside the locked channel or playlist. The lock icon is removed if you have unlocked a channel or playlist. When unlocking channels, Clear All Locks may be selected to unlock all locked channels.
    6. # You may continue locking or unlocking channels and playlists until you have finished. Use the Back button to exit the Lock Channels or Lock Playlists menu.

    Notes:

    When you tune away from a locked channel or playlist, the channel or playlist will become locked again. Locking a channel that is also a My SIRIUS Channel will not automatically lock the corresponding playlist. You must also lock the My Sirius Channel playlist.

    Hide Channels

    The hide feature allows you to designate channels to not be displayed when browsing channel lists.

    1. Press the Setup button.
    2. Select Parental Controls è Hide Channels.
    3. Select a channel to hide or show, or select Show All to show all hidden channels. Hidden channels will have the hidden icon next to them.
    4. You may continue hiding or showing channels until you have finished. Use the Back button to exit the Hide Channels menu.

    Notes:

    The hide feature differs from the lock feature in that a locked channel will be displayed while browsing a list (but is password protected), while a hidden channel will never appear in a list. Hidden channels are not locked, but can only be tuned by directly entering the channel number using the numeric keypad on the remote control.

  • Sportster Replay

    The SIRIUS Sportster Receiver has the ability to lockout the use of any channel, or channels you do not want others to access without your permission. Like the Skip feature, the locked channel will not appear when the user changes channels with the Rotary Knob. When the user tries to access the locked channel using the Direct Tuning function, the “Enter Code” screen will be displayed and the channel will not be accessed until the proper code is entered.

    While in the “Menu Options” List mode, follow the steps below to Lock a channel:

    1. Use the Rotary Knob to highlight the “Lock Options”. Press the Rotary Knob to select.
    2. Select “Lock/Unlock” from the Lock Options Menu and press the Rotary Knob to select.
    3. Use the Rotary Knob to select the channel you wish to lock. Press the Knob in to select.

    Changing the Lock/Unlock Code

    The first time the Lock/Unlock function is accessed, the user must enter the default lock code. The default lock code is “0000”. This code can be maintained or changed.

    To change the default lock code, perform the following procedure while in the “Menu Options” List mode:

    1. Use the Rotary Knob to highlight the “Lock Options”. Press the Rotary Knob to select.
    2. Select “Edit Code” from the Lock Options Menu and press the Rotary Knob to select.
    3. Enter the default code “0000”.
    4. The “New Code” prompt will appear. Enter your new four digit code using the 0-9 number buttons. You will then be prompted to confirm the new code by entering your code again.
    5. The lock code is now changed.

    Note: you can use this same method to Edit the code once it is changed from the default.

  • SRIUS One

    The Receiver has the ability to lock out with password protection any channels you do not want others to access without your permission. A locked channel will not appear in the channel list. When access to a locked channel is attempted using the direct channel entry method, the “Enter Code” screen is displayed and the channel cannot be accessed until the correct code is entered. If the wrong code is entered, a message will be displayed indicating that the wrong code has been entered.

    Lock/Unlock

    To lock or unlock a channel, do the following:

    1. Use the channel up and down buttons to display the “Lock/Unlock” menu choice, and press the select button.
    2. If this is the first time that Parental Control is being used, you will be prompted to create and enter a four digit numerical code. This code can be any four digit number from 0000 to 9999. If you should exit this prompt without entering a code, you will be prompted to set a code next time you enter the Lock/Unlock option.
    3. If a code has been previously set, a “Enter Code” prompt will be displayed. Enter your four digit code and press the select button to continue.
    4. When the correct code has been entered, a you will enter a list of channels. Use the channel up and down buttons to navigate to the channel you wish to lock or unlock, and press the select button. A previously locked channel will have the lock icon displayed to the right of the channel number.
    5. To lock or unlock a channels, use the channel up and down buttons to display a channel, and press the select button. If you are locking a channel, the word “Lock” will be displayed to the right of the channel name. If you are unlocking a channel, the word “Lock” will be removed from the right of the channel name.

    To exit the Parental Control menu, press the MENU button.

    Edit Code

    This setting allows you to change a previously selected Parental Control code. The first time the Edit Code setting is accessed you will be prompted to enter a four digit code. This code can be any four digit number from 0000 to 9999. If you should exit this prompt without entering a code, you will be prompted to set a code the next time you enter the Edit Code option. To change the Parental Control code, do the following:

    1. Use the channel up and down buttons to display the “Edit Code” menu option, and press the select button.
    2. At the prompt, enter the four digit Parental Control code.
    3. If you did not enter the correct code, a message will be displayed alerting you that the wrong code was entered, and you will be prompted again to enter the code.
    4. If the correct code was entered, the “New Code” prompt will appear. Enter the new Parental Control code.
    5. You will then be prompted to confirm the new code by entering it again.
    6. If you confirmed the correct code, the lock code is now changed and a confirmation screen is displayed. If you entered the wrong code at the confirmation prompt, a screen will be displayed to alert you that you have entered the wrong code, and you will have to repeat the process again.

    To exit the Parental Control menu, press the MENU button.

  • Starmate

    The Sirius Starmate Receiver has the ability to lockout the use of any channels you do not want others to access without your permission. The locked channel will not appear when the user changes channels with the Channel Switch. When the user tries to access a locked channel using the Direct Tuning function, the “Enter Code” screen will be displayed and the channel will not be accessed until the proper code is entered.

    While in the “Menu Options” List mode, follow the steps below to Lock a channel:

    1. Use the Channel Switch to highlight the “Channel Block”. Press SELECT.
    2. Select “Lock/Unlock” from the Lock Options Menu and press SELECT.
    3. Use the Channel Switch to select the channel you want to lock. Press SELECT.

    Changing the Lock/Unlock Code

    The first time the Lock/Unlock function is accessed, the user must enter the default lock code. The default lock code is “1111”. This code can be maintained or changed.

    To change the lock code, perform the following procedure while in the “Menu Options” List mode:

    1. Use the Channel Switch to highlight “Lock Options”. Press SELECT.
    2. Select “Edit Code” from the Lock Options Menu and press SELECT.
    3. Enter your current code or the default code “1111”.
    4. The “New Code” prompt will appear. Enter your new four digit code using the 1-6 number buttons. You will then be prompted to confirm the new code by entering it again.
    5. The lock code is now changed.

    Note: You can use this same method to edit the code after it has changed from the default.

  • SIRIUS Sportster

    The SIRIUS Sportster Receiver has the ability to lockout the use of any channel, or channels you do not want others to access without your permission.   • Streamer GT

    The Streamer GT Receiver has the ability to lockout the use of any channels you do not want others to access without your permission. The locked channel will not appear when the user changes channels with the Channel Switch. When the user tries to access a locked channel using the Direct Tuning function, the “Enter Code” screen will be displayed and the channel will not be accessed until the proper code is entered.

    While in the “Menu Options” List mode, follow the steps below to Lock a channel:

    1. Use the Channel Switch to highlight the “Channel Block”. Press SELECT.
    2. Select “Lock/Unlock” from the Lock Options Menu and press SELECT.
    3. Use the Channel Switch to select the channel you want to lock. Press SELECT.

    Changing the Lock/Unlock Code

    The first time the Lock/Unlock function is accessed, the user must enter the default lock code. The default lock code is “1111”. This code can be maintained or changed.

    To change the lock code, perform the following procedure while in the “Menu Options” List mode:

  • XACT Visor

    Access to particular channels can be set with a 3 digit code. When you attempt to tune to these particular channels, your receiver will require you to enter the access passcode.

    1. Press the MENU button to enter the Menu Options settings.
    2. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial until Parental Block is displayed and press the Select button inward to enter the sub menu.

    The following options can be selected:

    • Edit Code (Default Code “000”)
    • Unblock Channel
    • Block Channel

    Edit Code

    1. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll to Edit Code and press the Select button inward to enter
    2. Edit Code
    3. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll through numbers 0-9 until the first digit of your code is reached. Press the Select button inward to enter the number and move to the next digit.
    4. Entering your new code. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll through numbers 0-9 until the first digit of your new code is reached. Press the Select button inward to enter the number and move to the next digit.
    5. Confirm your new code. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll through numbers 0-9 until the first digit of your new code is reached. Press the Select button inward to enter the number and move to the next digit.

    Note: The XACT Visor SIRIUS Satellite Radio Receiver will revert to the default screen if a digit is not selected within 10 seconds.

    Unblock Channel

    1. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll to Unblock and press the Select button inward to enter channel Unblock.
    2. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll through numbers 0-9 until the first digit of your code is reached. Press the Select button inward to enter the number and move to the next digit.
    3. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll to the channel you wish to unblock.
    4. Press the Select button to unblock the channel.

    Note: The XACT Visor SIRIUS Satellite Radio Receiver will revert to the default screen if a digit is not selected within 10 seconds.

    Block Channel

    1. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll to Block and press the Select button inward to enter channel Block.
    2. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll through numbers 0-9 until the first digit of your code is reached. Press the Select button inward to enter the number and move to the next digit.
    3. Rotate the Channel Up/Down Rotary Dial to scroll to the channel you wish to block.
    4. Press the Select button to block.

    Note: The XACT Visor SIRIUS Satellite Radio Receiver will revert to the default screen if a digit is not selected within 10 seconds.

  • Audiovox SIR-PNP3

    Upon entering this mode for the first time, the user is prompted to enter a four digit numerical code that is used to lock/unlock channel access. All future entries into this mode displays a channel list with the current channel in play highlighted. The Encoder knob is used to navigate the list and highlight the channel to be adjusted.

    Once a channel has been highlighted, pressing the Encoder knob displays the text “Lock” next to the channel and prevents the channel from being accessible during any of the tuning modes. Locked channels can be accessed only by direct channel number entry, at which time the user will be prompted to enter the previously stored 4-digit code.

    Once the correct code has been entered, the audio begins to play. The channel returns to the locked status if the channel is changed or the vehicle/unit is turned off (or by returning to this menu and going through the same process to return the channel to the list). Upon adding a channel, the text “Lock” is removed from alongside the channel number/name.

    Lock/Unlock Default Code Function

    The first time the Lock/Unlock function is accessed, the user must enter the default lock code. The default lock code is “0000”. This code can be maintained or changed.

    To change the default lock code perform the following procedure:

    1. Press the MENU button to access the User Menu.
    2. Rotate the Encoder knob to select the “Lock Options”.
    3. Press the Encoder knob.
    4. Rotate the Encoder knob to highlight “Edit Code”.
    5. Press the Encoder knob.
    6. Enter the default code “0000”.
    7. The “New Code” prompt will appear. Enter your new four digit code using the 0-9 number buttons. You will then be prompted to confirm the new code by entering your code again.
    8. The lock code is now changed.

    Edit Code

    Upon entering this mode, the user is prompted to enter the current four digit numerical code being used to lock/unlock channel access. Once the correct code has been entered, the user is prompted to enter the new 4-digit code twice. The second entry is requested for confirmation.

    Sanyo CRSR-10

    The CRSR-10 has the ability to lock the use of any channel, or channels you do not want others to access without your permission. The locked channel will not appear when the user changes channels with the CHANNEL Button. When the user tries to access the locked channel using the Direct Tuning function, the “Enter Code” Screen will be displayed and the channel will not be accessed until the proper code is entered.

    While in the “Menu Options” List mode, follow the steps below to lock a channel:

    1. Use the CHANNEL Button to highlight the “Lock Options”. Press the SELECT Button to select.
    2. Select “Lock/Unlock” from the Lock Options Menu and press the Select Button to select.
    3. Use the CHANNEL Button to highlight the channel you wish to lock. Press the SELECT Button to select.

    Note: You can repeat steps 2 and 3 for as many channels you wish to Lock.

  • Sanyo CRSR-10

    The CRSR-10 has the ability to lock the use of any channel, or channels you do not want others to access without your permission. The locked channel will not appear when the user changes channels with the CHANNEL Button. When the user tries to access the locked channel using the Direct Tuning function, the “Enter Code” Screen will be displayed and the channel will not be accessed until the proper code is entered.

    While in the “Menu Options” List mode, follow the steps below to lock a channel:

    1. Use the CHANNEL Button to highlight the “Lock Options”. Press the SELECT Button to select.
    2. Select “Lock/Unlock” from the Lock Options Menu and press the Select Button to select.
    3. Use the CHANNEL Button to highlight the channel you wish to lock. Press the SELECT Button to select.

    Note: You can repeat steps 2 and 3 for as many channels you wish to Lock.

  • XACT XTR1

    Access to particular channels can be set with codes. When you intend to tune in to these particular channels, your receiver will require you to enter the access passwords.

    The following adjustments can be made:

    • Lock/Unlock
    • Edit Code

    Lock/Unlock

    When using Lock/Unlock for the first time, you are asked to type in the 4-digit code that is used to Lock/Unlock the channel access. Press the “0” button four times to enter the default Access Code: 0000

    Thereafter, each time you enter this mode, a channel list will be displayed and the currently playing channel will be highlighted. Press the “up” or “down” button to select a channel you want to lock, then press SELECT the button to confirm the setting. The message “Lock” pops up next to the channel.

    Edit Code

    You may change the access password (default code: 0000) to your preference.

    1. When you enter this mode, press the left/right directional button to enter the current access code (4-digit default code: 0000 or your previously entered current code) A “New Code” message pops up.
    2. Enter the numbers for your new access code by using the or left/right directional buttons. The confirmation screen will then be displayed.
    3. Enter the numbers for your new access code again by using or left/right directional buttons. Your new access password is now modified.
