B.B. and Bill feature songs by Mahalia Jackson, The Soul Stirrers and several more gospel groups that were influential in shaping B.B.’s own music. Next, a very important conversation unfolds as Bill asks B.B. about his experiences with the American Civil Rights Movement. They discuss Medgar Evers, the NAACP, and Martin Luther King. B.B. recalls one particular memory about a hotel bombing that nearly cost both Doctor King and B.B. King their lives. Bill asks B.B. about other musicians who played a role in the fight for Civil Rights and about the first time he was able to vote. B.B. concludes the conversation by stating that “America has grown up” with the election of President Obama and expresses deep pride in our country.

The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre’s 12th Annual Del Close Improv Marathon from the UCB Theatre will air live in its entirety on SIRIUS Comedy Showcase, beginning Friday, July 30 through Sunday, August 1.
Hear completely uncensored highlights and live cut-ins from the three day improv comedy marathon, which is a tribute to the Godfather of improv, Del Close. The improv marathon will feature The Upright Citizens Brigade (Matt Besser, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh) and performers from 30 Rock, Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report.
The three-day marathon will also present performances by Horatio Sanz and the Kings of Improv, Adsit & Gausas (featuring Scott Adsit of NBC’s 30 Rock and Christina Gausas of The Colbert Report & Delocated), Paul Scheer (FX’s The League, Human Giant), John Lutz (NBC’s 30 Rock, Saturday Night Live), Jason Mantzoukas and Rob Huebel (I Love You Man, Human Giant).
